"Study shows Seattle has plenty of parking. So why can’t you find a spot?"--Seattle Times

There is a big need for parking nearby downtown. Although there are so much parking, it's still so expensive and difficult to find durning the day. Yet, there are plenty of unoccupied driveways and garages in the city, when the homeowners are out. Why can't we make these underutilized resources available to those who need it?

A mobile platform to connect people seeking parking spots and property owners

Smart Parking is a mobile service that opens up homeowner's driveways and garages to drivers who need park in the city. It also helps the property owners to make money from their unoccupied parking space. Our final deliverable was a sketch hifi prototype.

Driver

Book a parking spot with a lower price in the city. Save money and time by parking your vehicle in someone's driveway or garage.

This is a great place to add a tagline.

Property Owner

Switch account to list your own driveway or garage. Use your empty space to make money and provide more affordable parking.

Insights

Finding parking is an IMMEDIATE need. Drivers have very limited time. The app needs to be easy and quick enough to find parking.

There's a great need for more supply of AFFORDABLE parking. Currently in urban areas, lots are too expensive and street parking takes long to find.

Arriving to find your vehicle DOESN'T FIT is a very painful experience. The app needs to prevent this early on.

Through Information flow, we breakdown and understand the process from a broader perspective between both ends of the service.

Wireframe Sketches

We started making wireframe sketches for the application, focusing on the experience on the driver end. We split it out the prototype, sketched several wireframes, and then met back to discuss and collaborate on the hifi digital version.
